Should college athlete's be paid?

I stumbled across this article from the csmonitor that talks about the idea of paying athletes at schools across the nation: http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0307/p09s01-coop.html?page=1

I still go back and forth on this issue, but if someone wants to pay me to play a sport at school then I'm all for it. (This article is not talking about Division III college athletes)
