update from the hub

hey dudes. first of all, happy shark week - i saw some good mythbusters shark week special action last night, and there's some guy talking about being attacked by a great white. les stroud (still so much better than bear 'phony ass' grills) will apparently teach us at some point about surviving sharks. great whites have always been my favorite - absolutely insane animals. there's some sort of sharks and rays exhibit at the new england aquarium in boston, which they advertise with signs that read: 'SHAAAHHHHHHKKK!' (this is how every fuckin' product advertises in boston).
pauri and i have started talking about getting an apartment. i've been pokin' around on craigslist. the way i view it, boston is more expensive than providence (sveenks) but less expensive than nyc (bowser), but probably a lot cooler than providence, if not the crazy behemoth that is new york. bike tours are going well, i'm putting in a lot of hours and starting to get the hang of it. figure i gotta rake in the dough while it's biking/tourist season.
carlos sastre won the tour de france. ironically enough, i didn't really watch this year.

No need to actually read it, I just want to point out how ridiculous it is that Bush would do anything to avoid calling it a "time table." Time horizon... plleeeaaaseee. Politics are hilariously lame.

i have stumbled upon a book called "without sanctuary." for those of you who know, the books makes you cringe, scared (as a colored person), and angry at the same time. the book depicts how, upon the advent of photography, lynchings, mostly of african/italian americans were captured by snapshots and sold as postcards. the pics in the book are truly gruesome. as a point of reference, i saw the most horrible films captured of survivors of the holocaust and from north korea, but none of them come close to the sheer awe and incredulity of what i saw in this book. i seriously warn you, the book is not for the faint of heart. the book shows images of 10, sometimes thousands, of people standing around a corpse of a dead body. mind you, the background of these are not too different from you or i. there are educated people, blue-collar, white-collar, people who just stand around a dead body as if it were nothing. looking at their faces you see no remorse, nor does it seem to dawn upon them of the horrific act that just occurred to an innocent person. i have posted a link to their website, however i warn you, these pictures are truly graphic. i should also note that the notes on the postcards are even more frightening than the pictures themselves.

i kno there is plenty more in the world to be worried about, but as a sports fan, this really pisses me off. espn writer j.a. adande says it better than i can, though. this is about the supersonics moving out of seattle thanks to that coward david stern.
